I get a very fine vibration when pulling away slowly, thru the steering wheel and driver vacinity - is it because its deisel??? any one else with same issue.

maybe itis the steering.
I would take it to the dealer to get it looked at cos it will be bad in the long run if you dont fix it.

I get a little bit of vibration when I first start the car up from cold but that's it. Once the engine is warm the vibration goes away - even after a restart.

Yes I will second that.....and I also had a sense of paranoia when I bought the 530d - my first diesel.....but I am 101% certain that this is the way it is.

Mine feels sweet when pulling away, but I have been a diesel driver for some time so maybe I dont notice small vibrations.

I would suggest you maybe book a test drive with a dealer who has a used car similar to yours and see if you notice it there....then you will know for sure.

THATS RIGHT, AT A COLD START IT IS QUITE NOISY, ONCE THE HEAT KICKS IN THEN THE NOISE GOES AWAY.

sometimes in the morning the exhaust noise is quite loud, you cant hear the engine...
