I have been told my 2004 530 TD has an ECU for the Turbo, and needs replacing and you can only buy Ecu with turbo as a unit, can anyone advise whether this is true and is there an alternative, I have never heard of an Ecu run Turbo

No thats rubbish. The turbo is just a turbo unit, the engine ecu runs all engine stuff.
