Default 528i water pump

I have a 2010 528i and will be proactively replacing the water pump in a few days.

I see some of the hose clamps are the Schwaben pinched clamps that you can snap off with sharp plyers.

However, some of the hose clamps are a complete circle. There is no visible high point to snap off with plyers or no screws to remove it.

A) how did BMW get those hose clamps on?

what is the best way to get those hose clamps off?

What hoses are you trying to move. You should only be working with the two ends connected to the pump. They both have clamps that can be unscrewed. You should only be working from the bottom to change the pump. FYI if the clamps look that way then you're not suppose to take them off that way.

There are 6 hoses in and around the water pump and thermostat. When I replace the water pump and thermostat I'll replace all the hoses in that area.

Since the factory put hose clamps on that don't have screws and are not crimped, I was wondering how the BMW dealer gets a hose clamp off that is a solid, 360 degree band of metal?

Those ends should be connected to a plastic piece that is removed by a clip. The whole piece including the plastic end is the hose. When you buy the replacement hose it will have the metal band around the hose sealing it to the plastic end. If it does not have a clamp that can be removed look further up the band is not suppose to be removed. Search for the hoses you want to replace and you will understand

To remove the hose there should be a metal I shaped clip you pullout then remove the hose
