Hi everyone, my 525d on an 54 plate is running very heavy on fuel 20mpg. I have cleaned the egr valve n check the engine temp using the hidden menu... The temp is at 98 degrees at its peak. Whats else can i check or replace to get better fuel econ? What is everyones avarage Mpg on their cars? Cheers

my consumption has been, on average around 37-45 mpg per WHOLE tank. That's mixed driving though, when I've been doing a lot of local driving, the lowest it would average out at was 37. With majority motorway driving, it would average out at 47.
Recently, with 90% mway driving like a grandad, it's only been doing 38mpg, that's when I checked and realised my thermostat was stuck open. Just bought a new one today, will be installing it tomorrow and seeing what difference it makes. I drove around for 30mins around town today and it didn't even go over 70c!
I do run tyres at max pressure though, and drive as if there is a full glass of water on my bonnet which I'm always aiming not to spill over.
How many miles has you e60 done?
