The only disadvantage is probably the sound of the dieselengine. Not to sexy !
It cannot be heard inside the car.

The ladies love good vibrations, if there where any...
For those, get a Harley.

Good choice, stick with the 525d. The petrol may be quicker 0-60, but I am sure the diesel will have more punch in the mid range.

Hi

I have placed an order with a leasing company for the car below. I ordered a diesel for the fuel economy and the tax implications.

When I spoke to the guy at the leasing company he asked why I haven’t gone for a petrol car (all my previous cars have been petrol – think I am a bit of a petrol head deep down). I mentioned my reasons and he said that new 525i is nearly as frugal on fuel and cheaper in company car tax.

Now I am in a quandary. Do I change my mind and go for a 525i petrol or stick to the diesel, which will be my first diesel car. It will still be a manual either way as my budget does not stretch to an auto.

What are you thoughts?
After having had 2 diesel E60's I would not buy a petrol everyday car ever again. I find petrol engines (not supercars) need reving to get the best out of them as they have such a lack of torque, whereas a diesel is just so low reving and easy to drive fast. I've had both a 320d and 320i as loan cars and theres just no comparisen. The diesel was superb to drive the petrol was simply gutless. Also the petrol will suffer at the pumps when you start booting it. The diesel's seem good on fuel driven either fast or slow. The 0-60 may be slightly quicker on the petrol but in reality the diesel will be faster especially midrange. Just my opinion.

BTW I recently drove a loaner 520d and thought it was superb. If you have a budget to stick to I would go for the 520d M sport as many extras as possible.

If so the 520dA would be the car.

Well it won't be unless there's some more shifting around.

204PS is 150kW.

From 09/07 there will be:

520d 130kW
525d 145kW
530d 170kW
535d 210kW

If you were going to "name" a 150kW diesel to fit consistently and unambiguously in the range, would YOU call it a 523d?
