525 with sports Vs. 530 without sports

530 with sports. If you are going to spend the $$$ get what you want; dont settle. I know the wait was killer but well worth it!

If with sports is with the M Sports (aero) kit, then I would go for the 525.
I think it looks far better than the SE. The 525 is still plenty fast enough, but obviously the 530 has an edge in performance. If you can get a 530 MSport, then it's no questions asked, but if it were me, I would prefer a car that looked as good at the MSport, but with slightly less power, rather than a than a bog standard SE which would go like a rocket, but not look like one! (though it still looks fantastic)
If sports in this post means the non-european 'sports', it's usually something like sportier looking wheels, and possibly firmer suspension. You get alot more than that on MSport.

I would get the 525 with sport if there is no way you can wait for a 530 Sport.
I have a 545i and my favorite part is the sport pack which makes it so fun to drive. In fact, given a choice, I would go for a 530 sport vs. a 545 non-sport.
Also, everyone is saying the 525 is so slow (about 7.0 to 60mph?). Remember, a 1990 M3 was 0-60 in 6.7 and the 525 is obviously fast enough to be safe (no issues with traffic merging etc.).
ZNod may disagree (straight-line focus), but BMWs are more for handling than outright speed, so IMHO, the sport pack is a must.
So the 525i Sport is equally attractive to a non-sport 530i IMO - that is before the price difference. Once $ is taken into account, it should be a no brainer.
Of course, I would probably just wait for a 530 Sport.
What is the hurry? You are going to be stuck with the car for 3+ years anyway I assume.
