I'm happy with my 525 BUT I do regret not opting for the 530 :\ but like you the price was difference was to great for me. I would of probably have gotten a 530 or even a 545 if this car was'nt a weekend only vehicle.
I can't really compare this car's power to any other BMW. My previous vehicle was a Ford Expedition, but overall I'm satisfied with its power (for now).

I drove the 525 all night, on roads and highways, in rush hour traffic and late night open highways, and I really cannot complain about the power. It is not bad, but I have not driven the 530 since the E60s first came out, I am not sure I want to, I am sure I will want the higher power.
This car is solid as a rock, so smooth and comfortable. I put the whole family in the car (5 of us) and my seat was adjusted where I like it and the 10 year old behind me had plenty of room.
I love this car.

all i gotta say is...if your looking for a decent powered car with incrediable handling and ride with style 525 is all you need... but if your looking for a rocketship for about 50grand i would get an S4... thats what i wanted but my dad doesnt like audi so my next best option was the 525.... thats my .2 cents
