2006 - 2007 are 3.0 litre. I believe it is the same engine but the 530 has a different intake and exhaust system for an extra 40hp. I would like to know what I can do to my 525xi to bump the power a bit. Buying a new car is not an option since I have only had mine for 9 days
Well if you got yours from the dealer then I would say use the bmw satifaction policy and return the 525 for a 535. If not then I think you will be very hard pressed to find anything that will give you significant gains without spending a lot of money.

I'm happy with the current power, it's faster then my 05' 1.8t Jetta I traded in so thats good by me. But the next Beemer in 4-5 years will certainly have everything I want even though I'm more then happy with what I already have.

There's no doubt about it no matter what you get it is a fantastic car regardless. Some are just a little more fun Every time I go ripping around in the snow with the X-Drive i can't wipe the smile off my face; it's like an amusement park ride

Back on topic, my only suggestion is to make sure you get an 06 or newer since all engines got upgraded. I took a 535 out actually found for urban areas where you cant really giver the 525 felt better at slow speeds. But stomp on it on the Highway and it's a very different story

Badging is mostly a US thing. In Europe most are unbadged.

Hey Dr Dave,

Most BMW engines (85 %) are either 2.0 liter L4's or 3.0 liter L6's.

The reason for this is the fact that a 0,5 liter cylinder size is ideal
in the mechanic sense.

The L6 engine is one of the finest engine constructions, because of
its natural balance.

The finest engine is a 6.0 liter V12 (times two a L6 3.0 liter).

The new M3 engine is a V8 with a 4.0 liter engine and
the M5/6 V10 engine is a 5.0 liter one.

Exceptions are the new 4.4 liter TT V8 and older BMW engines,
like the old 4.8 liter V8 and the old M3 engine with a 3.2 liter L6.
