My Ride: E60 530d Sport - Carbon Black, Black Dakota Leather, Media Pack (satnav, bluetooth, CD changer), heated font seats, through load
Default

Driving on the M25 this week, I passed an E60. Not unusual, except that it had 520i on the boot.

We were both driving in the same direction, slowly due to traffic. So I'm sure that it did say 520i. It was also a 54 reg, so quite new.

As far as I know, there's isn't actually a 520i anymore. Did someone change the numbers? Are BMW making "unpublished" models? Is it an import? Interesting anyway (sadly)

Possibly (oldish) unsold stock? There were on sale up until March-Apr anyway. Not sure when they stopped taking orders for the 520 but whenever that was there was probably 6-8 weeks lead time on delivery.

Did it look like bargan basement or was it spec'd wiup with kit?

Not anymore

I would guess it could be a car that has spent some time at the dealer, or one that was ordered towards the end of the production.

The 520i had the 2.2 litre engine carried over from the E39.

Still a great drive say all the car mags.

Have a bunch here in Germany! They were in production until the end of Feb 2005 here. You could spec them out with all the goodies and have a nice ride with decent gas milage.

The 520i is available here in Portugal, the engine is the 2.2 L, but isn't selling at all.
The best sellers are the 530d, 525d and the 535d.
The 525i, 530i and 545i are almost impossible to sell around here.
