I will do the slip test, thanks for the method. I kind of knew the clutch might be bad before I bought it. I had the brakes re-bled and the pedal is perfect now. I was thinking of removing the under-bonnet sound insulation to get more engine noise. Is this going to cause any heat problems?

Well...if you have the time AND money to do so why not. i'm more then happy to run the E61 550i in pretty mint condition with fairly low mileage. Coming from an E34 M5 Touring, which was my back then dream car, II don't need another baby requiring all the TLC it deserves
So the V8 is better in some ways, it seems to be more torquey at lower revs. Plus I can actually get a right-hand-drive manual here in UK because we only got auto M5's. Im addicted to E60's, I chuck them around harder than my old e46 and the back end has never felt like giving up.

For anyone thinking to get 520d or 525i 3L. I would definitely recommend the diesel, the petrol dosent have enough torque for the chassis. The petrol does make me feel more special but the diesel is the better drive.

The 525 feels brand new with a new clutch. Will re-review after new tyres and some miles.
