I have my 06 520d auto for around 4months and I am averaging around 39/40 mpg (50% motorway and 50% city) The quoted stats say it should be around 47 mpg so in that sense I am disappointed. However I do use the kick down quite a bit so I know that will effect it. Also I have read that some people find the economy improving after the car is properly run in ... 6mths, 9mths..

34 sounds very low, make sure you havn't got US gallons selected in I-Drive as this is the default.

I have a 520d, automatic gearbox, since last june with almost 8000 km, and after a conversion from liters to imperial gallons, my fuel consumption is between 41,54 mpg and 36,22 mpg.

Hi Y'all,
I drive a 520d automatic with 4300km on the clock. My avg is 9 lt/100km. I live in Istanbul which has lousy daytime and very fun nighttime trafic.
I reset the board computer at every fillup. When I first got the car I went 300km with only a quarter of a tank. (break in period)

I am quite suprised at how poor you guys are doing. I do a real mix of driving and get about 42MPG on average without trying.
It's not such an issue now that we're heading into Winter, but when the outside temperature is higher than 12 Deg Celcius, I have to run the air-con to aleviate - almost as though the engine needs minimum loading.
Do you suffer any such hesitation??
I'm looking forward to Jan 07 as that is when we believe the new EGR code will be available to kill this problem - and hopefully improve the MPG.

Bazzman- You can change info from l/100kms to MPG on IDrive - I think it's under vehicle settings/ units.
