Potential work around for 500 artist/song limit. We all know it's frustrating not have ALL our songs. So I thought of this workaround. What I did was make a playlist a-z (not a smart playlist) I then added all appropriate artists under their first initial. Assuming you don't have more than 500 songs from your a-z artists you won't have a problem having your collection. * I should note that when you add the songs and you are playing them from the idrive you are going to have to search your song title from the artist. It's not quick if you have so many songs. Well that's it enjoy! Feel free to post if you don't understand.

So what exactly does this work around when you still only have 500 songs? Sounds like all you did was make a difficult to begin with setup worse by now not having artist names. Please correct me if I'm misunderstanding.

Hey Bart, What this allows you to do is to have MORE than 500 songs that is limited by the kit. What I mean by this is that your whole library of artists may not be fully shown. To get ALL of the artists shown you need to create a playlist with their first initial and place them into the respective playlist. Every playlist directory is limited to 500 entries. Expanding all playlist a-z allows you to place 500 files within those playlists.

->A (either artists by name or by songs with title A) These playlists show files up to 500 if you do it this way. So what I'm saying now is as long as you don't have more than 500 artists with letter A or songs with letter A you should see all songs in your collection.

The issue with this is that if you create a playlist by artist name it will only show the names of the songs not the names of the artist.

If you found a way to create a playlist where it shows the names of the artist please let me know!

I have a 160 gig classic hooked up with about 4000 songs on it and I can get all my artist, what i did i kinda like what you did

I took each artist from a-z took all my a's through what ever alphabet up to 500 songs, gonna use c for example, after that I went c thru the next 500 songs, use e for example all the way thru my catalog labled them 1 thru 9 and I can quickly find my particular artist.

It took a little getting used to but it works for me if I forget the spread, I just scroll to a number 1-9, say I want erica badu, I go to number three pull up a song it shows the name and song then I can determine if I went to far or not far enough.

I also have another playlist set up as jazz 1 and and jazz 2 and since I only have about 900 jazz I only need to playlist for that
I also have R&B, and Hip Hop broke down like that
