Hello everyone,

Regarding my previous topic about tyre replacement and reverting from Run-Flats to conventional tyres in the end I have decided to go with run-flats due to in my opinion the benefits outweighing the disadvantages and as I can see run-flats are much safer for me and my family.

Anyway back to my original question there is one thing that has been stuck on my mind regarding an email I recieved from BMW

I can confirm that all the following tyre brands are recommended by BMW - Bridgestone, Goodyear, and Dunlop. The tyre sizes for your vehicle are ? front 245/40 and rear 275/35. I can also advise that BMW Approved Tyres are stamped with a star on the tyre wall.
I went and checked the size on my vehicle and I have 245/40 for front and rear.

My car is a 2006 525D M-Sport, what tyre sizes does everyone else out there have ? do I have the wrong setup installed by any chance ?

Thank you in advance for you replies
Kind Regards,
Cream Sauce

Definitely! thank you for your input.

I guess the reason your rear tire size is wider is because you have a 5000 engine. Maybe on the 525D's they don't put wider tires on the rear they just put the same as the front, we shall see!

Thank you very much also.

Just recieved an email from BMW again

I am sorry for the confusion caused by our previous response.

I can confirm that your vehicle is set up correctly and should experience no issues running tyres of the same size at the front and rear.
So I guess I was quoted wrongly in the original email, with the larger engined 5 series the tyres at the back are wider due to the fact that the E60 is rear wheel drive and because they have more power = wider wheels I guess.

I agree with you on that my 330d E46 was set up wider at the rear. I'm just struggling to find the correct pressures for front and rear, do you happen to know?

I believe it is 2.4 on the front and 2.9 on the rear.

Also if you check on the inside of the door sill it should tell you different tyre sizes and rim sizes tyre pressures.

Not sure about the psi values, however as far as I can remember from reading the figures on the door sill they are the ones which I have mentioned for our tyre size and rim setup. I shall check tomorrow and confirm it tomorrow.
