So what do you guys think? Is this just an obnoxious luxury tax?
Down under we would call it an envy tax!

It must be nice to be able to stereotype people, cities, types, typical attitudes and the like.
It must save you a lot of time on actually thinking.
A person who is well traveled would have enough sense not to throw a city of 20 Million into any particular category.
You have about as much clue to my socio-cultural demographic as you have worldliness. You have only 2 groupings in your universe, homeboy and good old boy. Them and Us.
When you type away pigeonholing everything and everyone you reveal who you are, a hayseed. No German car will ever change that.
PS
I've been all over the world myself and I see the allure of every city and town I've ever visited. Odd that you've been to NYC 35 times and still haven't found the allure of it. Maybe you need another 3 dozen trips to get it.
Have a good night.
One more time Jr., END OF DISCUSSION. You have anything more to say to me, send me a private message. I'll attempt to educate you further in private.

Cool down fellow member, we like to keep the E60.net a grownup site.

and since we are off topic anyway I am accustomed to paying ridiculous parking rates in Manhattan NY with no empty space, but I was really pissed off when I had to pay parking fees for my hotel stay in Houston TX with gigantic EMPTY parking lots. Now what kind of TAX is that?

I would REALLY be annoyed if they charge you the same as for a parking space for a Lincoln Navigator then squeeze it onto a space barely big enough for a Toyota Corolla.

Then I'd remember why I take the train into the city.

I'm with you on the train part. I just haven't been excited about driving in a long time so I keep making up excuses to take the car in.
I'm going to have to stop, the $41 for anything over 3 hours and under 10 hours is just silly on a daily basis.
But getting into my 5 at end of day is sooooooooooo much better than the F train at rush hour. I don't even mind the traffic.
