My Ride: 2008 535xiT (E61)
Black Sapphire / Black Leather / bamboo.
Steptronic, Full Aero Kit, 35% Tints. 18" Run Flats.
All the goodies short of Active Cruise, Comfort Access and the safty options.
2002 BMW R1150R. Red, Corbin, PIAAs, Fiamm,
I pull into the lot across the street from my office for the first time in my new E61. (I dont usually drive in)
The same lot I used Park my Range Rover in.
I am promptly told there is a $15 surcharge for my car as it is oversize.
Being used to paying this fee with the Rover I am shocked that the manager is saying this about my E61.
I start to explain that this is the same exact size as the 5 series sedan, not even the full size 7.
No go. He is telling me that this is on his list for oversize and I can call the owner in Greece if I don't like it . Obviously this guy think its an X5 or I dont know what, cant be. The 5 is not an oversize car.
We are both annoyed and he says. "Look. Here is my list for oversize cars that pay extra"
Sure enough, along with the Mercedes E class and Mercedes S is the BMW 5 Series, 7 series and Audi 6 & 8.
No sign of the For Crown Victoria or the Chevy Impala though.
So what do you guys think? Is this just an obnoxious luxury tax?

Sure sounds like it. What about Lexus, did it make it on the list too? What about the Toyota Avalon?
I didn't notice, probably. I was too busy storming to my car while grumbling something about "dirty greedy a-holes not getting my business while there are lots on every corner."
I can tell you for sure there was no Ford or Chevy section.

should have asked if you fold the side mirrors, would that make it a regular size and not oversized?
