My Ride: 535D MSPORT
Hello all,
I just last week got myself a 2004 5 Series 525. They came with standard BMW wheels so i bought a new set that came with tyres for ?500. They are 10 spoke M5 look a like wheels. I had them fitted by Kwikfit and went a drive only to find the car shuddering/vibrating at 45mph. The next day i went to another tyre and wheel place called NewLife and had the wheels balanced and the tracking done but the exact same thing happens. I had the front wheels put to the back and vise verse but still the same vibrating. I was told by newlife that SPIGOT RINGS may help but i have no clue when it comes to cars. I put my only wheels back on and it runs normally. I really want to use the alloys but i cannot put up with the vibrating as it spoils the ride.
Any help/advice would be welcome.
Thank you all for reading the post

who is the manufacturer of the replica wheels? Are they 166 replica's? Also what tire size are you using with them? Are they 18" or 19" replica's. The more info the better for the members to help you out...

This vibration is common with aftermarket wheels, especially ones that use a wheel mounting hub ring. Our e60 wheel mounting bore opening is 72.56 mm, while most aftermarket wheels have a larger wheel bore opening, hence the need for a wheel mounting hub ring to "fill in" the space around the wheel hub. From what I've read over the years and from my own experiences with aftermarket wheels, speeds between 50-60 mph seem to cause the most vibration with these wheels. These vibrations every day can drive you crazy! This is why, in my opinion, you cannot beat original BMW wheels.
