i watched so many amis fill gas into diesel powered rental cars here i really wonder if ami land is ready for diesel.

rental firms in Germany have to put large labels on the tank cap door proclaiming DIESEL, what a laugh

Do you REALLY think that "attitude and responsibility" is that forthcoming in EU?
ABC

No I do not

But before US have a diesel distribution fit for cars it will take a while...
The diesels the trucks use is about raw oil.

Why buy a diesel one when gas costs nothing (seen from a EU point), so why would a US customer
choose a L6 diesel before a V8 gas, for the torgue and easy driving, maybe?

Actually diesel fuel cost more to produce than basic gasoline, but diesel engines are more efficient than gasoline one.

US is the utmost energy user, for obvious reasons, their tech development would lead the world.

But no one should forget the toxin development in China, Russia nor India!

But well, according to Eurochambers studies EU is about 20 years after the US economical development, so that's not it.

Nor their social and economic history over the last 4 centuries.

They're trying to catch up. Is it reasonable to deny them that or to provide support?

Long way to go in US, yet...
No infra for deasent diesel but most of all, full lack of attitude and responsibility.

Maybe the North East academical people could go for it

What about California?
Be careful not to tar 300+m people with the same brush! Speaking for California, it has some of the strongest environmental regulations around. BMW diesels, using low sulfur fuel which has been mandated here since 2006, are actually unable to pass the current CARB emissions regulations as they emit too much nitrous oxide. That won't change until at least 2008. Moreover, until very recently, you couldn't get a hybrid here without paying over list price and often used cars were selling for more than list - and I suspect that the vast majority of buyers do that in the full and certain knowledge that they never get their investment back in fuel savings. They are popular because buyers want to make a statement, and because more often than not they do have the right attitude and do take responsibility for their actions for the environmental consequences.

I had thought that in the triple digits that hp takes over. Down low is where torque is king and a remapped 535d has plenty of that. A Vishnu PROcede 535i will put over 320+ hp to the wheel. What are the thoughts of the 535d owners?
My DMS'd 535d is 334BHP and 513 lb ft of torque

Even in stock, the 535d is a unique driving experience. Evereything you'd expect from the figures and then some.

This 3-litre oil-burner loves the way all hills are gone, leaving those petrol-powered pretenders behind.

0-60? 50-90? Standing start 1/4 mile? Try doing it on a 25% incline!

A DMS 535d was tested by Autocar & Evo to do 0-60mph in 5.5 and 0-100 in 13.5, not bad huh, for a diesel. That 0-100 time is quicker than my Lotus. By the way on a good run I can just nudge 40mpg around the motorways too !

Talking about contamination, world wide.

Hope we can support both the western and the eastern cultures to understand.

Population figures:

1,3 Billoin Chinese
1.0 Billion Indian

EU 460 million
US 300 million.

And who invaded and exploited whom?

I thought being Finnish you may understand something about that.

My (possibly incorrect) understanding is to say concentrated rather than strong.

There seems to be concern about localised smog but less concern about CO2 being added to the global total...
