Default RESOLVED: 4011 Exhaust back pressure sensor....

Hi all,

Did a check on my E60 LCI 520D (N47) this morning in ISTA-D, came up with a bunch of codes - most of which cleared fine.

The one which seems to be persistant is:

4011 DDE: exhaust back pressure sensor before particulate filter, signal

I replaced the exhaust back pressure sensor (in the engine bay, on the side of the engine) in November 2019.

I'd be surprised if the sensor I replaced has failed once again in such a short space of time.

Can't seem to find alot of info on error 4011, so am wondering if it is the sensor I replaced (in the engine bay, on the side of the engine), or is it a different sensor ?

Thanks, Vaughn.

Is this error causing some noticeable performance degradation?

To be honest, I've not noticed any performance drop really.

I did get an EML and limp mode activated a month or so ago, but whilst I was on the same journey as said EML and limp mode activation appeared - both went off, since then nothing has re-appeared on the dashboard.

I was just a bit concerned as to much back pressure can cause turbo problems, and maybe prevent a regen to ?

My car never has 0 errors when scanned. If it gets up on it when I need it to, I'm not too overly concerned.

If you suspect a looming issue, you usually have to wait until it gets a bit worse in order to accurately diagnose it.

As I scan my car reasonably regularly, I know this is a new code which has appeared in the past few months.

There's only a few sensors pre-DPF by the looks of things, maybe I'll remove one by one, and test for resistance/short circuit.

For anyone having this issue in the future.

In order to resolve this error, I simply replaced the exhaust pressure sensor.

Error cleared in ISTA-D immediately.
