My Ride: 2004 545i carbon black / dakota black / sport package / 19' beyern wheels - 285 rear with 15mm offset
I think there's a purpose behind each one of these led's.
The two led's in the front, on top by the reading lights point straight to your ashtray. The ones in the back point to the 12V outlets. The ones in the doors illuminate the door handles ( they're probably more usefull for passengers, you can probably open your door with your eyes closed ), and theres also led's in each of the door pocket compartments to help you see whats inside.
If you have dark tints, you can find all these led's usefull

The orange LEDs has a long history with BMW, it was introduced to the 5 & 7 series back in the 80s. I remember my buddy's 1984 535i that had those LEDs and also had the LED pointing to the door handles. It makes the interior looks unique at night especially for the door handles, if you where in a dark area you don't have to search for it.

Also, if yu have dark tinted windows as some of us do, the glow from these LED's is even more pronounced at night. Try covering them one time and you'll then realize just how much they do.
