i was at car show in April and saw a x5 with 4.4 L v8 twin turbo .. so i dawned on me we shouyld see this engine in the 5 series without a doubt .. but havent heard any info on it yet .. anyone know the scoop ???
The new 5-series F10 will have the new twin-turbo V8.

As a 550iA (my guess).

It's now available only in the X6 (as a 50i).

I don't see the AMG or Jag R cars competing with anything except the M cars. Now the new E-class is coming so I could see the new motor as a defensive move until the new 5er pops (although I thought their release coincided). We'll see, should be pretty soon that we find out what is happening or not with September production.
The TTV8 will be competing with the M cars. The C63 is bigger than the 3 series and smaller than the 5 and comfortably fits four adults and lists at $54,000 without adding options. Its an option for me and because of size the 3 series isn't. I think others will fit into this category.
I think the new E series MB will be out soon.

The X5 has a 4.8i version with the same 4.8 as in the 550i. The X6 will come shortly with the 4.4 twin turbo as the "X6 Xdrive50i" (or something like that).

The X5 has a different 4.8 motor from the other platforms if im not mistaken. Different torque numbers I believe

There is extreme pressure from MB (C63 & E63) and now Jag (Supercharged 4.2). BMW can either put the TTV8 in the E60, moveup release date of F10 or do nothing.
The XF SC'd really isn't any faster than the 550i or E550, there is an XF-R in the works as very good spy photos were realeased last week or so.

New Eclass wise, the W212 will be out as a 2010 model. One more year of the W211, 09 model AMG package is standard and new telematics.

I believe it's the same motor, just different tuning.
