That was a lot of fun. Too bad we didn't get that random M5 dude to join in on the party =P

Hahahah ya that guy would have destoryed everything.

Kinda hard to believe that we saw 2 m5's at the same time and same place. They probably had a gtg there or somthing.

Only time I saw turbo lag if you can call it that ( it was more throttle response ) was when I did a roll with kens 545i @ 30-100 mph. His car felt more comfortable at 30 in first but my car was @ 5000 rpm's in first @ 30. So I decided to just start in 2nd which was about 1800-2k rpm's. that was a very close race but I was creeping up ever so slightly.
sounds like you need a sprint booster for the throttle lag
then you car will be almost 99.9% lag free

Ya, I saw that post in the e90 forums. But I would like to see how the xede would improve the throttle response. plus im not sure if the 2 programs will clash with one another.

Come on now... we are talking about stock vs stock runs here. Thats like saying ya if i put gears in a 335i I would destroy a stock E39 m5. ( Just an example not trying to stir anything up)

No Walked, the 545i manual/SMG has long gears to do a good mileage .

For us who want performances it is a fault .

Stock final drive ratio on MT-SMG 545i/550i is wrong, you must change it to have the normal performance of that car .
Stock gears are (kmh) : 68-120-176-240-280-320 : this is a defect that must be corrected .

Compare 335i to 645ci ... And come back to told us the result :-)

This is interesting MT and SMG 545i robed of performance to be economical. Sounds like a compromise to me...a v8 petrol will never be trully economical. And what for the steptronic v8s they decided to make it a gas guggler?! Let it drink...?

Alex, I'll be sure that there will be both a 550 and 545 Step at the next Launch Meet.

Waiting For The New Engine On The E60, I Think The V8 Engines Should Pee When They Hear The 535 Exhaust Note .
Evil

Don't forget the 550 sport gets a sport exhaust with the refresh. Its hard for a 6 to sound better than an eight - save for Porsche.

The way I see it bmw made the car with those gears for a reason. If its a defect then I guess bmw hasnt realized it yet because they havent corrected it for X amount of years.

We are comparing 2 stock bmw's. All BS aside you saw how they did. My car is stock right out of the dealership. Lets stop BSing around and saying if this car had this, or that car had that. I tried to make it as even as possible thats why all the races were from differnet gears @ different speed when everyone would be in their power band. I even stuck my 100 lb girlfriend in the car with me so I could avoid post like this.

If I had an auto 335i the comparo's would be a lot differnet also, since the auto has shorter gears than the manual.

Ive also raced my neighbor 645CI vert. And the outcome was even worse than me vs the 545i or 550i. ( these were from rolls)

Your trying to compare both cars as they were sports cars. Come on we have family sedans here with a good hp out put. If I wanted a race car i would have bought a caymen S or z4m coupe. Trust me I was looking at buying an e39 m5. If the 335i never have come out I would have done it.

Reason I bought my car was because I came from an audi backround I love 4 doors and I loved the b5 s4 2.7 L bi turbo. So the 335i just hit a home run with me.

In the end we both from bmw's yours much more refined than mine. Thats why the 550 is what? 20k more?
