I am 33 years old and 3 series is too small for my needs. Also I am in Europe and travel a lot by car. My needs are way more important then what others might think. I am in software business and if my suit is still suitable for a meeting and if my mind is still able to work well after 600 km at the wheel, then this is all what matters. I love my E60 and would not get back to anything else if I am able to sustain it financially.

Hey All,

I'm a newbie in the E60 world and here is my concern: I live in France, and want to order one. I'm 32 and ... for us frenchies, this car is not a youngster one. I'm now hesitating between the E60 and the 3 series touring... hard choice, but for me it's only an image thing. What do you think? Should i go for an E60 (honestly)?

Best & Merci,

N.
Hmmm I will tell you a story.

Where I live there is this guy who owns an E60. This guy is 26 years old.

Oh, it`s a black M5, and the guy is now in Lisboa, with his dad, where they are going to race some trucks in the desert to Dakar. It`s the blue trucks with GO!!!!!! on the side.

So maybe the image of an E60 is not that of the youngsters, but....

I can advise one to buy an E60. But, if you want to be recognised as one of the youngster, one could go for the M5. A 500ps agressive looking car that doesnt have to bad road performance, can that do bad to your image?

Hey All,

Thanks for your answers. I do have 1 kid and plan to have a 2nd one. I currently own an Alfa romeo SW Selespeed, which is great but to small: With only 1 kid, when going in the country my car is so full that i cannot see the rear window, hence the 5 sedan i want to buy. Anyway, still, i'm not convinced even if i do like the car, i'm still wondering about having a 3, but not for the room in it, just for image... See how bad it turns when you take care about your car's image?
In your thirties with one kid, planning on 2nd and concerned about your image??? Grow up

If you are so concerned about image you should think about this: Once you have that second kid and you go on a country trip your E60 will get full as well, so you might as well get a huge boxy minivan/SUV. With this said, I think your concern about image can be addressed the following way, two options: E60 or minivan and forget about the three series, get the three series once you get to your mid-life crisis in your late 40s

I see folks at work faced with this same dilema a lot, they usually go for the minivan or SUV.

Then there's "what makes a nice car to what age group" to consider... and we come full circle.

ABC
I think that a lot of the reason you see younger people driving the 3 series is simply financial. They are less expensive when comparing each class (consider M3 to M5)....so, I would say if you can afford the 5 at an earlier age than most, go for it!

I'm 32 and I have got a 535d MS.. Its great.. Nothing fuddy duddy about it. I love the way it looks.. A lot of people complain about bangled BMW's but I like it. This maybe controversial: but I think he was trying to cater to a new generation of BMW owners. It’s worked with me.

Hi,

I'm french too, 30 years old and I've 2 childs.
Don't matter what think people. I'm very happy with my E60 and my 2 childs have a lot of place to play in rear seats , c'est tout ce qui compte.

I live in Belgium, 34 years old and driving an E60 for two years now. An E60 is a fantastic car a lot more executive than an E90. And even with no child, the huge trunk is very useful for winter and summer holidays. I don't miss my E46 at all.

Talking

All,

Again, thanks for the replies... I'm convinced. I've ordered yesterday a 520da, Excellis, Black with auburn interior, big tires and pdc.

I'm now an official E60er.

I'll post pics soon.

Best,

N.
