Hey All,
I'm a newbie in the E60 world and here is my concern: I live in France, and want to order one. I'm 32 and ... for us frenchies, this car is not a youngster one. I'm now hesitating between the E60 and the 3 series touring... hard choice, but for me it's only an image thing. What do you think? Should i go for an E60 (honestly)?
Best & Merci,
N.

I bought an E39 when I was 31, and nobody ever thought any less of me. Neither did they think any better, for that matter. The car does not make the man.
I don't understand why the alternative is an E91, though. The E91 would be much more practical if you have a family, but if you want "young" then surely the E92 (3 series coupe') is what to go for...
This may also be of help:

Hi and welcome..depends what image you want to expose.
I was 35 when i bought mine and it totally suits me - had a E46 328i before. It was a nice upgrade form me from all perspectives.
all the best with your decision.

I actually have been having the same debate: 3-series vs. 5-series. I am 30. I am not as concerned with my age or image, however, as I am with the sport-factor. I previously debated between an A6 and an A4 and went with the A6 2.7T w.a 6spd. That was a fun car. It did feel like an "older person" car, but it was still nice having all that room. And it was fast too. Anyway, now I am trying to decide between a 3 and a 5. Probably the 335 sedan vs. the 530. I drove a 335Ci, and it absolutely rocked, but I am convinced that I need 4 doors. In the states, I know and have seen lots of guys in their 30s driving 5-series, but, again, I don't know what it is like in France. Good luck.

Dears nojul and 1esquire,
Welcome both to the Forum!
In France the diesels are hot and the E60 is the sportiest large car your ? can buy.
So go for the new facelifted 530d(A). It will be availble in April/May.
If you are going for kids, get the E61.
You'll win in less interiour sound, better comfort and style compared the the E90/91/92!
PS. The 535i (gasoline engine) or the 535dA are good and even sportier options.

Age not really an issue, depends on how much you like the new e60. For me was the power of the 535d, 28 next month with a 535d sport. Work hard play harder..

At the time of purchase I was 28, recently married and with an expecting wife. We initially test drove and decided to get a 330i (Old model, not E9X). We changed our minds on the last minute due to the extra space and the Bangle design of the new five series (E60).
If I was single and looking for something sporty, I would go for the 335i coupe, that thing is hot, sporty, ultra fast and with a transmission that beats the hell out of the one in the five series. The paddle shifter on it, is a must have.

3 series are driven by tossers here. I would never have one. But then a Dutch friend told me that 5 series are not a great car to be seen in there. Apparently Volvo has a great image, but in the UK they are driven by "people that wear hats" ![Smile](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/smile.gif)
If you like the 5 series, then buy it.

Maybe the new facelifted 535iA - with paddle shift,
and a box of Viagra as an side order...
