UPDATE...
Took car back to garage, after the initial check last week of the alternator, this time there was no output, appears it was an intermittent fault.
Also had the MAF replaced and a few other little jobs done so far cost is ?850
Next week I am having the brake swith replaced, possibly a full oil service and get the transmission looked at by a specialist.
so much for th echeap deal I initially got on it!
