Default 2nd thermostat ?

Hi guys, I've put another N62 into my 2008 and accidentally broke this housing during fitting..part no 17217559962
It comes up on real OEM as a thermostat, but it's not the main one that bolts to the water pump.
Can anyone tell me what the purpose of this 2nd thermostat is for please ?

Thanks, but oil cooler for what ?
There's an engine oil cooler thermostat at the back of the alternator. part no 11427520214
The oil cooler for the transmission is at the bottom left of the radiator and held in with three screws.
The power steering cooler is just effectively a section of pipe that clips in front of the condenser.
Damned if i know what its actually for ??

Ahh.. right, so the gallery in the radiator on the left side that the transmission oil cooler pushes into is fed by these two pipes (on the water/coolant side) further up and controlled by that thermostat.
