okay MAYBE 21-23 year-olds, but i'm 27 and i have always loved driving. this whole new-age "get a smart car or a car that gets 749mpg" definitely missed the mark with me and always has.
anyone agree with this article?

I suspect I'm a lot older than the readers of this forum and my two adult children could care less about cars. My married son doesn't even own a car and my 22 year old daughter refuses to get her license. She just renewed her 5 year 'learners' permit just for photo ID. I am not aware of any of their friends who ever talk about cars. In my day every male and a large number of females were enthusiastic about cars. Even I have less interest in cars today now that they all tend to look alike (BMWs excepted). Too many car models adhere to a family look and look too similar. Unfortunately, I rest my case with the new 5series.

damn.. kinda sad really. I live in traffic infested LA and still LOVE to drive
but i can also see how one could be productive with a laptop using mass transit.

I love to drive too. I'll stop when they pry my cold fingers off the steering wheel. Seriously though, if there are fewer and fewer young folks driving why is traffic congestion getting worse?
Gas costs more now? Ha. Back in my college days driving home on weekends there was a small town we went through. It had two gas stations and they always seemed to be trying to undercut each other. I remember on one trip we paid...drum roll please....19 cents a gallon. We filled up the car for less than $3.00.

I fall into that age bracket and I have to say, living on campus as a full time student I honestly don't drive very much at all. Sometimes I drive my car just to make sure there's room in the tank to add fresh gas, make sure my tires stay round and dont rot from sitting in one position too long, and to give the battery a charge. I probably drive only about 3,000 miles per year. Not because of any of the reason cited in this article however. I have everything I need on campus; food, laundry, gym, ...more food. Besides there's no where to go around here except a winding country road on the weekends
and home for holidays twice a year. Dumb yahoo articles...
