I'm being lazy here b/c the topic was open, but is there a change to the visual portion of the new versions, or is it mostly additions like traffic and new streets? I have a 2010 so I don't think I really need an upgrade, just curious. Thanks in advance .

No visual upgrades, I downloaded the red light camera and speed traps version last night and it works great!

Forgive me if this is stupid, but I thought you had to have sometye of key or license to do the update?
The DVD's are only part of it, I *thought* there was some type of key that had to be purchased as well? Is this not true? All I need are the DVDs?

It may depend on the model year, but I just popped the new DVD in and the maps are more current now. My neighborhood was not mapped before, but is now. Does anyone actually use it for navigation though? I don't think anything beats Google Maps, especially with the device/web version cross interactions. And now GoogleNow already knows where I want to go beforehand! I'm debating whether to get a ProClip for my Motorola Xoom and put it right over the built in.

You could also go commbox upgrade. it will retrofit the current BMw iDrive into your e60 with BMW apps (Google maps included w/ streetview). I'm thinking about doing it to mine (2010) since I already have a CCC . I *think* you'll find you have CIC, so you will actually need 2 modules.
I think it's around $1800 for both modules
