My Ride: Alpine White 2010 535 M-Sport
Default

I recently purchased a CPO 2010 E60 M-sport. My father has an 2008 so I got in and was familiar with the iDrive and only recently started flipping through the owners manual. The 2010 owners manual depicts the new iDrive screen and instructions on how to utilize that system. This is the iDrive with the main menu as a list and blue background...same as I can tell that are in 2011 and 2012s. My iDrive main menu is like my fathers 2008 with a brown/tan background, big "i" symbol in the middle, communications is up, entertainment down etc..

In researching the difference I found a thread stating that the 2009 was dvd system and 2010 was a hard drive system. My 2010 does not have a location for a dvd...but I also do not have Nav.

Can someone help clarify why my owners manual would have instructions for the newer iDrive while my e60 appears to have the older system. Perhaps I just need a software update and not the whole hardware swap described in other threads.

On that same note, anytime I look for 2010 535 all I find are the new F10s. Dealer said my e60 was only a 1/2 year production. Irritating when researching mods.

Thanks for the help!

You only got the new idrive if you got navigation.

My 2010 535i M-Sport have the same color/functions as yours. I also do not have any slot for the DVD and I also don't have the Nav option. My production date is 04/09. I'm guessing if you have the Nav option, the iDrive system would look different. I don't know the difference though...

Newer iDrive has better functionality, easier to use and has better ipod interface (shows album artwork, etc). I guess I dont really care which one I have, I just was curious why the manual shows the newer version and my car had the older. Nav vs Non Nav explains it.

I have the 2010 E60 with the nav and hard drive and the newer idrive menu (just confirming, not contradicting!)
