I am now on my 3rd E60, I had the 2004 545i. 2007 550i and now the 2009 550i; its amazing how this car has evolved, I thought the 07, in space gray was near perfect, especially the comfort seats faster engine etc.
Now the 2009, which is most likely the last year, is better, the seats (if you can believe it are even better) the are somehow cushier without being soft, or they adjust better, I'm not sure but believe me when I say they just feel better.

The brakes are more sensitive, the active steering is unreal, the sports suspension is firmer w/o being to hard, could also be the 19" wheels. The Conti's non run flat tires are smoother, and quiter, the ride is better, you guys were right, I defended the the R/F because (I got a bunch of flats and never got stuck), guess I'll get a can of puncture sealer for the truck.

The Nav, and I-drive are improved, it has the new i-drive which is easire and faster to use, Nav loads very fast which is wat cool, I jsut drove to Napels Florida yesterday, total 350+ miles 7 stops are directed by Nav; new sports transmission beside the paddles is very different, it's smoother and seems to hold gears longer, the dam car feels faster??????

I drove within reasonably, so gas milage was 21MPG at an average speed of 39MPH, over half the driving was at 80MPH, coming home on allagater alley, I hit 100MPH for a second, couldn't help myself. The comfort access is very cool, even though I kept forgetting that I didn't need the key to start the car, I'm a little slow you know.

Is it possible the logic 7 has been improved? my i-phone music sounded better too?

This a world class car, I've owned a bunch of BMW's, I bought my first one in 1979, I keep thinking how in gods name can they keep improving them?

Before I pulled the plug on this car, I drove everything, lexus, mercedes, Caddy, audi and even the Porsche, because I use the car for work, I had to be somewhat practical, however this car drives better than anything I tested. Maybe for the money, other cars are great values, but I found none that drive better.

Oh, almost forgot, I really like the little upgrade to the interior, sports wheel is slightly thicker, console and doors have a bit more leather and the buttons below the radio which can be preset for various functions are a nice touch, the radio in my last 550 was a pain to use.

I'm sure I think of more, for now, I'm just another happy customer...........

Remember, nothing drives like a BMW

That's really awesome to hear. Congrats on the new car. Would you mind taking and posting some pictures, especially of the interior?

Its so cool when someone is totally happy with their car. I have an 07 550i which came with the previous suspension and run flat 18 inch wheels. Even though its a lease, I retrofitted the 08 sports suspension and 19 inch wheels and tires. I went from liking my car to loving it!

My lease is up this November. I too may end up with another 550. Especially since nobody can agree on the intro date for the next 5...

Good luck.

It is an amazing car. I was also pretty sure that the Active Steering did change - glad to hear that it changed for the better.

Speaking of better - YOU BETTER POST SOME PICS SOON.

+1 on the pix!

Glad you like the car so much!

I have an 08 and now that I have about 5k on it, I can say it's one of those cars that the longer you own it, the more you find to appreciate about it...

I've owned 328's, M3's, Lexus ES, RX, E39 540, MB C class and the 550 w/ZSP is (imo) the optimal blend of snort & lux.

Sport-with steptronic, Comfort Access, Logic 7 with satellite, HD and I-Pod, Nav, Shades. 2009 550i-550_i_sport.jpg
