2009 535xi 4x4! Stability control

I drove my car about 700 miles round trip in 4 days I got home parked my car then went out about an hour later and the 4x4! Message and the stability light came on and my car is now just rear wheel drive what could this be ?? Could really use the help thanks

Sounds like that steering wheel sensor.. I had it before once. I think all you need to do is turn the wheel full lock to lock and then restart.. should work hopefully.

How do I do that start the car turn all the way left then all the way right?? Then turn the car off then back on ?

Yup that's what i did.. give it a shot, you have nothing to lose. Search around for that problem it should come up. It's only happened to me twice in a few years.

So I did the turn the wheel thing and it didn't work I'll try to find someone to read my code see if it's my servo motor

this happened to me recently. at first, turning the wheel lock to lock would correct the error but over time the error would come back more frequently, especially during turns to the right in which the wheel was fully turned. i pulled the codes and it was the steering angle sensor as suspected. based on write-ups on this forum and others, i pulled the wheel and cleaned the sensor plate. it had a sticky film on it. it has been totally fine since with no problems. if you have the sport steering wheel the procedure is easier (less trim to remove). there was a post from a guy that had an M5 and he had a pretty detailed writeup.
