Hey guys check this out. This was the reply that my BMW agent send to me regarding the SAT. (I told him I was unhappy that I didn't get the SAT option due to his negligence of informing me the benefits of the SAT option and I wanted a solution to this, I even told him to ask his boss on what could be done.)

"I believe the 1st month of production for the sport transmission was 1-2 months after yours was produced. There is no factory upgrade available. When you ordered your car we went over every option that was available at the time."

What a load of BS... Please be aware that I've ordered this car on the MID of June. Don't tell me that the SAT option was unavailable! I replied to his email trying not to sound too rude. I've even mentioned that I was informed by "E60.net Forum" as my back up

Let's see what his reply is... I bet he's shitting his pants right now...
Right said, what a load of BS. I ordered the car in June as well and at that time was possible to order with SAT as I did it. The dealers got the info end of May that the option was available June production onward.

I have to side with Rudy. There is a difference in throttle response with the sport button pressed. Its not as noticeable as the E39 M5 or even an '06 650i but there IS a difference. Maybe its more noticeable being a 550i over the 3.0 turbo or a diesel. From only having the car 1 week, I haven't had the chance to do scientific tests of all modes so I'll post later on the subject once the car is broken in. I don't want to go to redline yet but the car has seen 5000 RPM a couple of times.

My guess is the 0-60 will be the same in Sport, DS, or Sport+DS but only if it allows the same shift point in 1st for each mode. Also I guess that the sport auto might shave .1 sec off the old steptronic time but paddles and the sport button won't make a measureable difference 0-60 over the non SAT LCI 550i.

One nice small feature of the SAT is the different shaped shifter. It does allow a good grip when you are using it for manual mode shifts. The paddles don't work well for the 1-2 shift, especially in a turn.

Finally, I do like the paddles for that hands on the wheel downshift to pass or braking before a turn. Thats quicker than using DS mode or just using throttle to downshift.

Anybody noticed that BMW has not posted 0-60 times for the SAT transmission? The mid 5's posted was for the manual. Probably because this option started after the sales brocure and third party reviews went to press.
