Does anyone have the latest/most accurate information on any specification and price changes for the 09 5 series cars? The lease on my 06 550i runs out in a few months and I must decide between an 08 model or an 09. I am particularly concerned about whether the 09 will have the upgraded I-Drive. Fwiw, I am leaning toward a 535xi rather than another 550i, regardless of which model year I wind up with.

Since there will obviously be a differential in lease payments, it would be great to know exactly what the spec differences will be.

Dealers here in CT are not too helpful for fairly obvious reasons, though they claim BMW is actually not too clear with them either.

Thanks in advance.

I heard base prices are going up $1000 because of the weak dollar. So go with an '08 if you can. Then again, I think that price hike applies to current '08s, too.

I think the upgraded iDrive will be worth waiting for.

For some reason many in this forum want the F10 to come out in 2011. Many sources are quoting very similar information and state a 2009 model year. Test mules have been spotted and photographed.
I think you should wait for the 2009.
Also the new 550 HP M5 is said to be coming as a 2010, which is a normal delay after a body style change.

I think there is a difference between the EU release vs. the US release. EU tends to get the model change a little earlier as in the LCI's case, correct?

The E60 is built at the Dingolfing plant, in Germany Europe.

German BMW MY changes in September, but do to large volume sales in the US,
a lot of upgrades happens also in March, for the new US MY.

The E60 should cost some 30% more than it does in dollars,
do to the very weak USD (one Euro is about $1,6 but used to be about the same 1/1).

You have perfect timing since in a few months there will be several options:
Re: 08 vs. 09 e60...if no major changes and your leasing you should be able to pick up an 08 at a great deal. For the latest and greatest you could also consider M3, X6, or the new F01 7series.

BMWAG buys currency options well into the future to help stabilize the differences in currencies. The US is still getting the most bang for the buck as compared to Europe.
