Default 2008 550i jammed trunk

I was fixing the latch on the trunk of my bmw and added bigger screws so that the latch would not be loose. Now my trunk is jammed and cannot open, the power is disconnected but the key is unable to open the trunk. I was wondering if there is anyway to get to the trunk through the back seat, I do have a middle arm rest, once I pull down the arm rest there is a plastic cover in which I can put my hand partially underneath the plastic but doesn't lead to the trunk. Is there a way to remove the back panel of the seat or getting through the center arm rest

boy, thats a tough one.
have you tried pushing down on the lid while turning the key? does the key turn?
you say the battery is disconnected? you can attach jumpers under the hood, to try the electric relesase.

I have tried pushing down on the hood while turning the key but nothing, the trunk is jammed, I figured that I can remove the back seat so that I could go through the back and get into the trunk

there are latches that release the seat backs, but i think you can only access them from the trunk.

have you also tried lifting the lid while turning the key?

That's what I assumed and I have and nothing works, I'm going to take it into a shop in the morning, I was hoping to avoid the expense

you have to turn the key counter-clockwise to unlock the trunk. turn key about -45 degrees. does it turn that much? if it does, then the latch should be releasing, and something else may be binding.

After turning the the lock to the left it stops at 40 degree angle so I'm assuming something is blocking the latch

If I were to move the plastic panel behind the arm rest would I be able to access the trunk?

ok i just went and checked my car again. at about -40 degrees, i can feel more resistance, and from there to almost -60 degrees is when the latch actually unlocks.

did you slam the lid shut?
