I know the I-Drive gives you control over most of the cars settings (DRL, for example), but are there settings that are not available on Idrive - only the dealer can set them? I am picking my car up shortly and I want to give the dealer instructions about the setup so the car is all set when I get it. Thanks all.

There is nothing to set on the iDrive that is dealer restricted other than the service intervals. However, if you ordered the HUD, make sure you check the display to make sure its the right height for you.
Hmmm that's not true - there are indeed some dealer set options. I can only think of one at the moment and that is the "auto fold mirrors when locking", but I have definitely read about others on the board.

Don't think that's right Russ...look at his signature - I've read here that the auto fold mirrors (when parking) are not an available option on US spec cars...

Take a look at this thread -- especially post #9 from Jason...

That's right -- the list, as with so much else with our software driven cars, might be a bit outdated. Overall though, I think it gives people a good idea of the types of hidden settings that are out there.
One thing that's changed for sure is the daytime running light setting. On the new model cars, we're now able to activate or deactivate the DRLs by ourselves. Some countries still may not allow this due to governmental regulations but in the USA, it's now an available setting in iDrive. The funny part about that is that before the LCI, I always made sure the dealer didn't activate the DRLs since I thought they detracted from the look of the car and I wanted to have more control over what was lit, etc. Now, they gave me the control I was looking for but the DRLs look so darn great now that I leave them on all the time!
