2008 535i limp mode
#1
I've been getting the dreaded limp mode on several occassions and have not been able to diagnose the problem yet without taking it to the dealer. Current mods include SSTT, K&N, S-Booster, race gas (Sunoco 100 GT).
Though the limp modes started after the SSTT and race gas, I've talked to the guys at EuroBahn and I have not experienced the code under the conditions they're describing (i.e. long periods of high boost under WOT for 20+seconds). The limp code has been activated when driving both passively and mildly agressively, but never to extremes. Also, the limp code does not activate under any specific environmental conditions.
After stopping the car, shutting it down and restarting it, the limp code goes away and I'm good for what it appears to be another 200 to 400 miles.
After 2 limp codes, I've disconnected the battery on several occassions and given the ECU enough time and mileage to adapt to the mods with no success.
No limp codes were activated immediately following the installation of any of the mods. The code activated after what seems to be reasonable time and mileage adaptation periods.
Anybody have any ideas what the problem might be?
Thanks in advance

You could remove the mods and put it back to stock. If the problem goes away, it's one of your mods. If not, it's a service visit.

Maybe "dongparts" can help with the "limp" mode...
Now that I have your "attention", any ideas regarding the (rephrased) what might be triggering the reduced power mode?
