Unreliability? Nonsense. There is nothing wrong with the 535i's engine. I had the same engine in my 07 335i and it ran flawless 3 years. The HPFP has been an issue on some cars both 335i and 535i but does not in fact brand the motor unreliable. As others have stated the E series would be close to the 5 series but the C300-C350 not even close.

Could not have said it better myself - the N54 engine is awesome it is just that the HPFP sucks.
