My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
When BMW LAWYERS say it begins...check the fine print. They "reserve the right" to declare what MY is when.
Bottom line: I think it all has to do with lease residuals. Whatever, I have to say it doesn't make any of us with older models feel any better when our cars are suddenly another year older, 6-months-in-advance. But who cares about us; we've already bought in....

They don't need lawyers to call it a new MY, they just do it.
And what makes me smile is that though the US MY "starts" in March, there also seems to be a September "update" advice for dealers because guess what... the major manufacturing changes take place in September when the EU MY starts.
