That's just BMW NA doing stuff different.

MY change is September in the factory Dingolfing.

My dealer said the "face-lifted" E60 should be out in the early spring...around March. Not much change is contemplated except the 300hp I-6 will be standard.

whenever ive been in the usa, tv ads for cars ALWAYS seem to refer to the car as being the next years model.

Im guessing the 2008 model will be out in january.

cheers

steve
Remember this is the land where they call Honda an Acura, Toyota a Lexus and Nissan a Infinity, charge more money and we buy them. Why wouldn't we buy a 2007 that they call a 2008.

MY change is allways September.

But in the US, for some strange reasons, BMW NA makes different decisions on the MY designation.
The "real" MY change is in September every year.

I remember US marketing "specialist" making a fall Vette to a plus 1,5 year car.

So in this case we would be talking about '08 models, hou-hou.

Santa digs!

Lets see ...what percentage of BMWs are purchased in the US market vs. ROW. Or germany itself for that matter.

Say what you wish Iceman The 07 model year began with March production.

we do things efficiently over here - if you guys want to wait a whole year to get your 2008 that's OK. We'll search through them now and pick out all of the good ones with the steering wheel on the right side of the car (and by right, we mean left- lol!)!!
Ah, but ive been to europe and the usa so many times that i can drive on both sides of the road perfectly fine, and deal with those roundabout things that Americans cant cope with when they see one

We have our wheel on the RIGHT side so we can use our sword arm against oncoming attacking knights. Thats supposedly the reason, dontcha know old chap, cor blimey mate,

toodle do

Nope!

You don't seem to understand...

The E60 is made in Dingolfing. ALL E60's are.
The factory changes the MY in September every year.

Therefore, all th cars sold in the US before September 06 identical to those not sold in the US, and those are MY06's. So, the US E60's are MY06, allthough for some reasons (explained/Discussed many times on the forum) BMW NA sells them as MY 07, but in fact they are 06ers.

It does not mean ANYTHING where how many cars are sold. The factory only makes the "real" MY switchover.
Following the logic that it does mean something... You could start calling BMW's US-cars, because, well, they are made in Germany, but, hey, most of them are sold in the US.

Again: REAL MY change IS September every year ONLY.
In the US, BMW NA decides different and sells cars as a new MY, allthough they are the same as others sold outside the US without a new MY designation.

I too like to move the centre of the universe to somewhere closer to home.

a) What changes were made in September 2006? Nothing seemed to have happened in the UK market apart from BERFORE September (July I think) DAB radio was introduced as an option. And no price changes to the base models

b) Did I read somewhere that the MY in US starts six months after the start of a particular manufacturing run (because of engine emission regulations) and is given a date even further in the future.

eg

a) Sep 2006 [EU MY 2007] BMW AG Manufacturing changes are launched in EU and non-US

b) Delay created for US market because of potential different emissions conformance

c) March 2007 [US MY 2008!] BMW AG Sep 2006 Models (with emissions conformance) launched in US

Now I don't know the answer to this but when were the earth-shatteringly innovative "Start/Stop" button together with rear console "Aux In" introduced into repective markets????

Why don't we just release a "2020" model year now, and get it all over with - for those who worry about these MY things (typically on one much bigger island west of here).
The rest of us can continue to ignore as superficial marketing hype

The REAL MY 07 model year for the US market began in March of 2007.

But this has been rehashed a thousand times on here.
I believe you mean March 2006. Right?
