So my wife takes in our 550i in for a standard oil change at the local BMW dealer. They find 2 oil leaks...no specifics but just said engine and transmission seal. I love CPO warranty as basically I will get an oil change and new transmission fluid for $50 deductible.

Anyone else have oil leaks? We had zero evidence on the garage floor but they said there are plastics shields under the car that will hide small leaks from ever dripping.

This car does go thru 1 qt of oil between oil changes, but was told by the bmw tech some time back this is normal. He even gave me a quart to oil to take home.

I just noticed my car has a little light oil residue on the passenger side of the motor. No drips or anything but it's there. I don't need to add oil between changes and I've got 82,000+ miles on it. Water pump just went to hell, though.....

I took my 2006 530i, with 88.5k miles on it, to an indy bmw shop because I was getting the "Minimum Oil Level" IDrive message and guess what?

Oil leak around the oil filter which was dripping on lower coolant hose causing the hose to swell resulting in a small coolant leak! I've also had another oil leak and a mechatronics sleeve leak fixed last year.

So now I have two "slow" leaks, oil, and coolant.

Also he said the front belt tensioner is bending forward. He said this is a common problem on the N52 engines. Apparently the aluminum bolt that supports the tensioner starts to bend, allowing the belt to start slowly moving off the tensioner, causing the belt to rub against another part, eventually leading to a broken belt. Has anyone heard of this?
