Default 2007 530i transmission issues

Hi all, hopefully this isn’t too long but I picked up an 07 530i a few days ago. Car starts and runs great but currently only moves in reverse. I have transmission malfunction warnings on the gauge cluster and the I drive screen. This is my first bmw so I don’t have any kind of bmw specific scan tools or software. I have a snap on solus scan tool and I’m able to communicate with the ecu and get engine codes but I am not able to communicate with the transmission (egs) I’m not sure if that’s a scan tool issue or a symptom of the car not driving. The engine codes I have are cd99, cd9e, and cd9d. I have to use the shift lock override to move the gear shifter and the vehicle works fine in reverse but will not go forward. I’m also not getting a display of what gear I am in on the gauge cluster which i believe I should. I have checked every fuse in the car and none are blown. I’ve disconnected the transmission control unit connector and made sure no pins were broken or corroded and cleaned out the oil that had leaked into it, still no communication or drive. I tested for the two powers and two grounds at the transmission control unit connector and they are correct. Anybody have any ideas? I don’t want to just parts cannon the car because I know I could have a communication issue, tcu issue, valve body sleeve issue or solenoid issue but hopefully someone can point me in a good direction. Thank you
