Two questions. I recently purchased this car and I am having subwoofer troubles. The subwoofers/bass will just completely go in and out and the volume is increased. What would be causing this, the bass/subs are the only thing going out, mid and highs still play fine. Also is there and easy fix or plug and play option to add an amp and subwoofers to this setup? Thanks!

 

Your year had two audio options: HiFi (SA676) or TopHiFi AKA Logic7 (SA677). These are wired differently. Check your iDrive to see if it says Logic7 anywhere. If not, you have HiFi which is what most 530i's have. As far as I remember there is a standalone amp for the subs in the trunk on the left fide. I'd start troubleshooting from there.

Bringing up old thread from the grave but I have similar questions and did not find it necessary to make a new one.

I too have an '07 530i with HIFI it appears since I do not have logic 7. The person I bought it from had a Kicker Bass station installed and also goes out after about mid volume.

I'm new to BMW and have had my car for a week now so there's still lots of learning for me to do.
There's a Logic 7 amp for sale nearby so I'm wondering if I switch that amp out with the one that is already in the car function properly? Will it power up the speakers already in the car or would I have to upgrade all speakers to Logic 7?
