Default 2006 550i wont blow hot air

Hey guys I just picked up a 2006 550i with just over 100k miles and just as my topic states it won't blow and hot air out of my lower foot vent or the middle vents, however warm air does blow out of the defrost vents. I've been through the system and the air pressure is open on all vents and the heat is turned up for all vents as well. The climate control temp nobs on my physical climate control interface are both turned to 82 so I really have no clue what could be the problem. Could it be a problem with the heating system or is there just a computer problem that I just am unknowledgeable on lol thanks for the help!

There are some dampers inside the climate control system. Sounds like they aren't working. Also possible to be a clogged heater core from posts I've read in other places. You want to hope that isn't it -- it is a huge job.

Go to Climate menu and you see temperature bars on showing on driver's side, and I think it's current in red. Turn iDrive know to change it to blue.

So what your saying is cold air is red and warm air is blue?

The center vents provide fresh air or conditioned air based on the setting next to the human figure on the iDrive climate control screen, red for warmer, blue for cooler.

Default Look for sensor issue

My 06 530 had a similar issue, but was result of a malfunctioning fogging sensor (it is located in the mirror). There was an error code stored in the HKA module. But the problem got worse over time, where out of nowwhere the system would start BLASTING air on the windshield. And mostly not provide heat on the floor and the cooling in the summer didn't work well either. I replaced the sensor myself, no coding necessary.

I had a very similar issue after completing a CIC retrofit on my 08' 550i (LCI). The issue was a bad connector to the HVAC controls. If loose in any way you'll need to simply reseat or replace the connector sleeve. Keep us posted on what you find.

Maybe look at the water valve in the engine compartment (left side, low on shock tower). If the valve is faulty and does not let enough water flow through, the IHKA will not allow the air flow to come off the default setting of trying to defog the windshield.
