Hi all, I wanted to see if anybody knows if there is a way to decode the VIN to show what options were on the car.
The reason I ask is because I am pondering an upgrade to an 06 550i. I can get a smoking deal on it. I want to find out if the 06 550i sport usually comes with the logic 7 sound system. From the picures I have seen, it has the following options...
Sport Pkg
Cold Weather
Nav
Comfort Seats
It has the Start/Stop Button. Does this mean that the car has the Comfort Access feature or was this just an upgrade on the 06 models?
Any help would be appreciated. The car is about 100 miles away from me and I would like to have some feedback from you guys before I make the journey.
Thanks!!

I don't think you can decipher individual options from the VIN unless you have access to some BMW database that lists them. You might be able to get that information by calling BMW NA (800/831-1117) and giving them the VIN.
I don't think there is any relation to the sport package and Logic 7. They were both independent options. Also, I'm pretty sure you can have the start/stop button without the comfort access feature.
Hope that helps...

Thanks Rudy, I will call them tomorrow.
Doesn't the 550 usually come equipped with the L7 sound system? Looks as if most E60's, especially on this forum, have the L7 with their 545 or 550. Kinda seems like BMW made their top of the line 5's with this option. Figment of my imagination?
By the way, what is included with the Comfort Access pkg?

No, the V8's (top of the line regular production 5 series) didnt come with L7 its just most people who got the V8 probably got L7 too
Nothing else is included with Comfort access except that... comfort access... there is no "package" its a stand alone $1K option. for "keyless entry"

In the UK all cars have their options registered on some central system. i.e. if you simply tell your dealer the VIN or the registration they get all the options listed on the screen.
