Uhhmm ... no ... you might wanna read my post again ... AE as DRL ... I mentioned to use the cigarette lighter so AFAIK the lighter has nothin' to do w/ locking/unlocking only when the car start (well when the key in a specific position for those w/o start stop).

So in my case my lighter don't do anything when locking/unlocking not sure if yours do it differently ... so why driving around w/ parking light on (and forgot to turn it off and drain the battery ) while you can use something else to automagically make it as a fully functioning DRL.

Now ... the thread in your link IS the AE working as Welcome Light for pre-LCI 'cuz wired to the footwell light ... which light up during locking & unlocking but that's it.

I've done both on many e60 or e9x but it's logically very easy to combine both and have AE light up as Welcome Light during locking/uncling + DRL (automagically) on a pre-LCI.

As I mentioned before you can make pre-LCI AE as DRL with a simple coding if you have LM2.

Light Module 2 (II). It's the newer light modules installed in LCI cars and I believe some cars that were made sometime in 2007.

Yes, but it has to be programmed or coded into the car.
