Finally after weeks of waiting, I received a production begin date. Produciton began on 9/23/05. Does anyone know the timelines of when it will hit the ship for delivery?? Is 10 to 15 days in the build process correct? I am in SoCal, so I know the shipping takes longer. Any info on shipping would be helpful too!

Ordered:
2006 550i
Silver Gray/Black
SMG
Active Steering
Sports Package
Premium Sound Package
Sirius
M aero kit
M5 19' wheels
Navigation
Comfort Access
Anthracite headliner
Fold Down Rear Seats

Does anyone know what acceleration assist is? And can I get it for my car??

Not sure on the pick up date... I was looking for some insight from others. I assume (and hope) the last week of November.

AA is a mode that is standard with SMG. The how-to is in the manual.

Thanks for the update! I feel reassured; AA sounds pretty cool! I also noticed you had Huper Optik tint. I was interested in that type of tint. Do you happen to have any pictures of your car?? I have looked on the net, but found no real pics of cars....

You can call 1-800-831-1117 and use the interactive voice system to check "Production Status", which will ask you for your production number. It should then give you a completion date for your vehicle.

Then it's usually about a month from production end to arrival at the port of entry in the US, though that can vary. After that, it has to travel to your dealer, which can take a few more days.

Remember to sign up at http://oc.bmwusa.com which can give you some basic information about the status from your production number. You might even be able to see your VIN!

Don't forget to update your profile with your location and your signature with the details about your car!

I'm curious about the M5 wheels and the anthracite headliner.

Are the wheels an option replacing the standard 18s, or are they an accessory ordered as a second set?

And I've never seen the anthracite headliner as an option for a US-spec car. How much is it?

No charge apparently.......

To date, my salesperson is not aware of the option.

If I had ordered the Auburn interior, I would have been pissed.

But ordered black, no big deal (black/gray go together).

Good info on shipping in the FAQ. Plan on about 7 weeks when your car is built.

Let me give you my example.

My car enter production on 8/29/05.
Assembly completed on 9/7/05, passed outbound QI and release to carrier on 9/9/05.

Arrived at Bremerhaven on 9/16/05. Left port on Orion Diamond on 9/21/05.

Current ETA into Port Hueneme is 10/15/05.

I am hoping that my car will be released quickly and deliver to dealer around 10/22.

I will probably pick up the car on 10/29/05.

So realistically speaking, you are looking at thanskgiving time frame.
