If you people had a choice between a 2006 530 or a 2005 545, knowing that the 530 is the next model, which will stick around, and the 545 will be upgraded to the 550, which would you pick?

Cool

Welcome there!

All are exceptional, well balances luxury sports sedan. Boils down to your personal preference really. My set of wheels is the 545i (fully loaded) and personally this is way more car than I'll ever need, use or could handle.

Yes, very content to say the least!!! The car flat out offers (IMHO) the best combo of luxury, comfort, power, handling, and panache in real world driving terms. Of course the new upcoming 550 offers even more performance.

I say if you can wait, get the upcoming 06' models, as they offer further refinements. On the other hand, get the 05 now and start enjoying the ultimate driving machine and sheer driving pleasure experience of owning a BMW sooner than later.

Hey, don't forget the M5 or M6 also. HOT, HOT, HOT. Anyway you slice it, you can't go wrong here. Again, your personal preference and set of circumstances will dictate what you should opt to do. Besides, BMW is always on the cutting edge. Innovation and leadership has always been BMW's marketing forte.

There's always something new, better and more exciting coming out every year. All the best always,

GOLD PANDA

Most of the people in the US in particular are going to say "get the 545", "no substitute for displacement", "etc.", but personally, I would get the 06 530. To me (and this is stricktly IMHO as I am totally respectful of everyone's right to make up their own mind) it's a muscle car mentality that unlimited power is the ideal. I don't think I need a V8, nor do I particularly want one according to some socially concious voice in my head that thinks it would be wasteful. Then again, maybe I'm just a cheap bastard.

You cheap bastard!

There's no such thing as "too much" power. But then again, I'm biased.

Get the V8 dude 545i or 550i, you won't regret it or look back.

Then the power is there just in case you need it!

Get the V8, and go easy on the options if cost is a concern. BMW options are expensive and some can be done using aftermarket at less cost.

You won't have regrets if you get the top dog in the lineup!
