I've read quite a bit here about the transmission issues. My brand new 525i did "transmission slam" thing today. In sport drive mode, it slams between 2nd and 3rd gear. It feels like it is about to shift to third and then feels like it slams back into second for a moment and then on to third...if that makes sense. It was a pretty hard thump! My car only has a little over 700 miles on it and I am not a happy camper! I'm calling the dealer Monday.
Somebody tell me it's just a software thing.....please. This is my first BMW and I am in love with the car already, I just hope this is not a huge problem.
.....any thoughts?

Welcome to greatest forum on the web. Don't sweat it! It should be easily fixed with a software tune up.
Welcome to the BMW family and don't judge the BMW line based on the current E60.

You werent going down a steep hill, were you?
I had a 2004 525i and never really experienced this slam, except when going down hill on steep descent.
Gainesville, huh? I grew up in Roswell, GA. We played you guys in HS football back in the 80's in the playoffs.

I've been enjoying the forums...thanks for the warm welcome! I live in Gainesville now but played football in Dalton, GA. Gainesville still has a heck of an athletic program today!
I was not going down a hill, just flat road with moderate to hard acceleration.
I hope the software will fix it. I love everything else about the car!
