Default 2006 525i Crankshaft and transmission codes 2A94 and 51A7

I have a new to me e60 2006 525i that came to me with codes for the crankshaft position sensor and the transmission in limp mode. Based on the codes it had, I changed the crankshaft position sensor, cleared the codes and tried to start the car. Initially, the car wouldn't start at all, and would just crank with no start. eventually after I tried starting it and pumping the gas while it cranked, the car started back up, but I get the same condition - rough idle, transmission in limp mode, error codes back.

Where should I go from here from a troubleshooting perspective?

Using INPA I have the following errors stored in memory:
2DED (I believe this is from the battery tender I have on the car between times I'm working on the car)
2E8E (Likely from disconnecting the IBS cable while I troubleshot the crank, no start condition)
2A94

Might be some of the emission hoses back there. If you changed the crankshaft position sensor, you probably had the intake off and all the emission hoses undone. Those hoses are very breakable and any leaking or not hooked up right will cause the car to idle like crap even to the point of conking out.

from what I can see hoses are all intact. I was able to swap the sensor by going in from underneath, so I didn't touch any of the hoses, intake, etc.
