2006 5 Series and iDrive specs
Quick question that you guys might be able to help me with. I live in Ireland and am currently looking at buying a decently specced 2006 520D in the UK and importing it back to Ireland.
I know that all 5 series have the iDrive but I would like one with the bluetooth at a minimum and preferably sat nav as well but most listings on the web make no reference to these and just say that the car includes iDrive.
Excuse my ignorance but I presume (and from what I've read on different posts here) that the basic iDrive system on 2006 520d's does not come with bluetooth and sat nav? Is that correct?
Thank in advance (a hopefully soon to be 5 series driver)

yes mate, the idrive refers to the central computer not nav or bluetooth. This may help your search:-
6 inch display, 1 dvd drive :- no nav or business nav.
8 inch display, 1 dvd and 1 cd drive :- pro nav.
Unfortunalty the only way to tell if it has bluetooth is to switch the power on and check the communication settings, you can get the original order list from any dealer if you have the reg or vin no.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I bought my 2004 in 2005. At the time I didn't know if it had Bluetooth until I found a Bluetooth specification card in with the owners manual. The card gives the specific "address" of your Bluetooth transceiver.
If you find the card that means the car has the hardware capability. You may just need to have it activiated by your dealer. I'm pretty sure I remember that they didn't do it for free but I don't recall it being expensive.
Good luck
