I have a BMW ETK CD (Parts CD-ROM) and in the E60 section there is a page for model emblems which includes a "535 i". There is no part number for it yet, but the picture is there. If you look at the bottom of the page you can see that I selected the E60 5 series, so this page is not from any of the previous 5 series section. I am NOT saying that BMW will definately be making an E60 535 i in the future, but just making an observation that the emblem is shown on their parts CD. You decide.....Here's that page from the ETK CD:

I see what you mean but conversely there is no 535d badge and we know that is a confirmed model. guess we will need to wait and see.

thanks for the info

I think BMW might come out with 2.5 and 3l valvetronic engines in 2006.

During the launch of the E60 in Singapore, I spoke to a German guy from BMW Asia and he said the 6cylinder valvetronic engines are due in about 2 years.

Since Volkswagon has a new 3.2 V6 with more power and torque than the M54, BMW might answer by increasing the capacity a little and boost power

Power sells but its torque that makes BMW's so good as "real world driving" shows.

Thats why the 3litre diesel is so popular here

BMW UK state that 43% of all E60s sold are 530d models....thats why they are delaying the 3.0d in the X3....demand for the engine which features in the 3 saloon, coupe and touring, the 5 saloon and touring, the X5 and even the 7 is just too great and they are looking at expanding engine production to cope.

I wish the Singapore goverment would allow private vehicles to use diesel engines. A 535d would be awesome, In fact, I would luv a Tourag V10...

Unfortunately, it's unlikely to happend anytime soon....

I don't know why they don't,, a Euro4 complient engine like the latest BMW diesel 2.5 and 3 litre pollute a whole lot less than the gasoline equivalent, I even got straight tailpipes on mine as it has a particulate filter.

Ahhh..I see! I think you posted this info a while back on bimmer.org. Very interesting.....

But Doctor Diesel makes a good point about the 535d...where is that model designation? And where on God's green Earth is a 518i available????? I guess we'll just have to wait & see.

ALSO, I am wondering if anyone on this board attended the BMWNA Car Club meeting on Friday, June 11th. Sometimes they give out little snippets of info for the upcoming model year.....which would include the new 3 Series.

518i was available upto (not including) the E39 model....it was an absolute dog, and an extremely slow one at that!!!
